The San Diego Supplier Development Council (SDSDC), formerly the San Diego Minority Supplier Development Council, was founded in 1974 by Dr. Charles C. Shockley. Our Council is comprised of small business advocates and purchasing professionals who represent local private industry and government agencies. Our Council seeks to improve member's procurement and subcontracting performance by creating opportunities for emerging and underutilized small businesses.
Our objectives include the creation of marketing and educational opportunities for these small businesses. Our Council adopts and implements programs that promote the purchase of materials and services from small businesses. Included in the population that the Council serves are businesses located in underutilized zones, or small businesses owned by women, veterans, disabled veterans, as well as disadvantaged individuals. Additionally, the Council seeks to enhance the economic development of the San Diego region.
